The "Underwater Kingdom" composition is designed as a panoramic statuette, with each side revealing a new scene. Like living creatures, translucent jellyfish with agate caps hover in the air. Schools of glittering fish, impossibly staying together, scatter in all directions as Neptune's son approaches. A giant octopus guards the treasures of sunken ships. But most convincingly, fluffy seaweed made of malachite sways with underwater currents. In the stillness of stones and precious metals, the artist captured the fluidity and fragility of the water element, the graceful movement and swift elegance of its inhabitants.
